The Characteristics of Life

There are eight main things that are needed for something to be considered living.

1. It must be made up of cell(s).

2. It is able to reproduce.

-Sexually

-Asexually

3. It has a genetic code.

-DNA

-RNA

4. It grows and develops.

5. It is able to maintain a stable internal environment.

-homeostasis

6. It can gather and use materials and energy.

7. It can respond to outside stimuli.

8. As a group, it has evolved over a period of time.

These are the main requirements to be a living being, but not all.
